Chapter VI.

From within the cave, Robotnik let out an evil chuckle, completely oblivious to the Freedom Fighters waiting outside.
Robotnik confidently held up the crystal into the air and gazed at it with pride. "This crystal has immeasurable powers," he boasted. "One short incantation and it takes you anywhere you desire. And where you and I are going, my dear princess, no one but I know. The planet of the Black Sun. No one knows it even exists, save me. But enough said." Robotnik stopped and grabbed onto the princess' arm. With an evil laugh, he glanced over at Sally. "Hang on, this is going to be a ride you'll never forget." He looked up and focused his eyes onto the blood-red crystal.

The Freedom Fighters waited expectantly outside.

He opened his mouth and began to recite a familiar incantation, as the crystal began to glow red. Soon not only did the crystal glow, but also Robotnik and the princess as well. They gradually glowed brighter and brighter until the two of them and the crystal glowed almost white, as Sally cried and screamed in a last attempt to save herself from her doom. Robotnik completed the last words of the chant and waited for the teleportation.
Suddenly, the shot of a laser gun hit Robotnik's upheld hand and knocked the crystal clear across the cave. Robotnik shrieked in pain and let go of Sally's arm to reach up and hold his bleeding hand. In the same moment the Freedom Fighters rushed in. Jazz ran over to where the crystal was laying and with the butt of his shotgun, smashed it into a thousand pieces.
Robotnik stared wide-eyed at them as he glowed brighter and brighter. "Damn you! Damn you!!" he screamed as he disappeared in a blinding flash of light.
Everyone stared in amazement. Robotnik had been teleported. Jazz sighed with relief, for he had destroyed the red crystal. Robotnik was stranded on the planet of the Black Sun. Bunnie retracted her laser gun and hurried over next to Princess Sally, hugging her tightly.
Sally cried from happiness and fear at the same time. "I'm so glad to see you again!" The Freedom Fighters sat around the princess and Andre worked at her chains, finally picking the locks and setting her free. Sally rubbed her wrists and thanked them all gratefully. Sonic offered her his hand and she got up as they all walked out of the cave and back towards Knothole as the sun began to set slowly in the horizon.

The two Panther brothers looked over at each other in what seemed the same instant.
"Well, bro?" Jazz said, grinning to Epoch.
Epoch, grinning back, replied casually, "All in a day's work."

With that, Epoch took his wife's hand and caught up to the rest of the group as Jazz trailed on behind alone, pausing for a moment, then speaking up.
"Hey, guys? What if I wrote a story?
"Epoch looked back over his shoulder. "Oh come on... like anyone would wanna waste their time reading it."
        "Good point."
